Yes, and no…
Teams (all members) competing in the Elite, Rx and Scaled divisions that wish to compete as an ‘eligible’ team must train primarily at that team’s gym (whether a CrossFit affiliate or not) for the duration of the season. Teams in these divisions may also elect to be ‘in-eligible’ meaning (in-short) these teams are still able to compete for the entirety of the weekend, however will not eligible to podium or receive prizes for respective placings. Masters teams do not have an eligibility criteria, meaning (in short) all teams are eligible for a podium and the accompanying prizes.

There is no restriction on the number of teams a gym may enter.

Team Nationals requires that each team provide a judge for the heat immediately following, each time they compete. This person does not have to be a competing team member.

Prior to 01.07.26: $137NZD per person (plus Stripe processing fees)
After 01.07.26: $170NZD per person (plus Stripe processing fees)

Athletes must be at least 14 years old by the day of registration. No athlete under the age of 14 may register to compete. Any athlete younger than 18 years old will be required to provide additional parental consent during the online registration.

In 2026 there WILL NOT be an open water swim programmed for Team Nationals.

Up until the point your team registers in October you can change team members as often and/or as many times as you like.
You are not required to stipulate your team members until the point of registration.

Your teams’ passes (these you will receive at registration in October) double as a spectator pass. That being said, our goal for competitors is to provide the most memorable experience possible. By prioritising your competivitive experience we can not guarantee you will have the same viewing experience as someone who attends solely as a spectator.

By making payment teams acknowledge their entry fee is non-refundable regardless of the circumstance.

Any changes or transfers requested by a competitor (or the team point of contact) and agreed on by New Zealand Nationals organisers/staff/employees will result in the following fees:
Prior to 1st August: Transfer of entry to another team at a cost of 5% of the entry fee (+ stripe fee).
1st - 31st August: Transfer of entry to another team at a cost of 20% of the entry fee (+ stripe fee).
1st - 30th September: Transfer of entry to another team at a cost of 35% of the entry fee (+ stripe fee).
From 1st October: No Transfers will be accepted.

Yes.
The Online Qualifier (OQ) will be held over the period of 31 July - 30th August.
At the end of the OQ those who hold qualifying spots will receive an invite to compete at the finals. Any spot not accepted will be backfilled by the next qualifying individual or pair.

The 2026 OQ for both Individuals and Pairs will run as two competition blocks, 31 July - 9 August and 21 - 30 August.

The workouts will be released over the first three days at the start of each competition block. Competitors will have until the last day of each competition block at 11:59pm to complete the workouts and submit their scores

Yes.
A/your judge can be anyone (i.e. a friend or family member) who is capable and who has read the scorecard provided for the workout being attempted. There is no requirement to complete a judging course of any sort.

No.
However, it is strongly recommended that you submit a video and your score at the same time. If in the instance you have not submitted a video and the event organisers request a video from you, you will be given 24 hours to either submit the one you have or repeat the workout and submit a video of that attempt. In the instance you redo the workout you will be required to achieve the score you submitted or better.

Yes.
The Online qualifiers has sufficient time that will allow competitors to compete in both.
For the finals event competitors will have to choose one or the other, this is due to a scheduling overlap.

No.
There is no eligibility criteria for the pairs competition. Individuals can be from any gym, and from anywhere. Please note, the workouts will require pairs complete the workouts together.

The Online Qualifier for the pairs will be a completely separate competition to the individuals. This means the workouts will also be different and require pairs complete together to receive a valid score.

No.
The NZ Nationals competitions are open to anyone and everyone to compete. There is no requirement to be a NZ citizen or live in NZ.
